The South Dakota Bankers Association has issued an alert regarding an individual that has attempted to cash fraudulent checks on several occasions in the last two weeks at First National Bank of Sioux Falls. Both times, the checks were counterfeit.
FNBSF has recently been made aware of a woman targeting other banks in the area. She leaves, gets on her phone, and exits abruptly on foot once told the bank will not cash the check. Thursday (July 31, 2025), she crossed over to a McDonalds and got into the back seat of a silver Chevrolet Impala with South Dakota plates.
During both stops at FNBSD branches, she was wearing blue with matching baseball caps.
