The surge in ACH volume has affected every financial institution and corporate entity. Consumer acceptance is high and many transactions are consumer-initiated and/or merchant-initiated. Remote deposit capture is the new buzz when it comes to the banking industry and emerging technology. The Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act paved the way for financial institutions to truncate checks not only at the bank of first deposits, but also at the merchants place of business. Deposit automation that has moved deposit processing from the back office of the financial institution to the customer's office!

Remote deposit creates new challenges and risks for financial institutions. A financial institution that offers remote deposit is turning over the back office function of capturing checks and making images of the checks to its customers. Paul Carrubba and Dan Fisher will provide you with a blueprint on how to devise a strategy for remote deposit capture.

The FFIEC plans to publish new Guidelines for examinations of financial institutions offering Remote Deposit Capture. Dan and Paul both have attended meetings with the FFIEC about specific regulatory agonies and will present what they think will be included in the Guidelines. This information will assist you as you prepare to roll out Remote Deposit Capture and assist you in preparing for examinations. This session will also provide insight into offering Remote Deposit Capture to consumers and will address some of the additional risks associated with consumer RDC.
