Federal Reserve Bank Miami Branch Closure During Hurricane Wilma

Federal Reserve Bank Atlanta

During Hurricane Wilma, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Miami branch was closed on Monday, October 24, but re-opened this morning (11:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2005). The Fed's information page on how Wilma is affecting operations is available.

The Fed states that there could be some impact on institutions receiving and sending ACH files and processing returns, but no specific ACH information is provided.

Both the OCC and the FDIC have encouraged banks to work constructively with borrowers affected by the storm. See the OCC. See the FDIC.

The FDIC advises that its 24-hour toll-free consumer hotline, established in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, is still operational. Consumers and bankers with banking-related questions should call the FDIC's hotline at 1-877-ASK-FDIC (1-877-275-3342) or visit the FDIC's Web site at www.fdic.gov.

The NCUA issued its disaster relief policies for credit unions, which include encouraging credit unions to make loans with special terms and reduced documentation to affected members. See the NCUA.

The NCUA's existing hotline number is 1-800-827-6282, but there is no mention of whether Wilma-specific information or requests will be handled.
