State and federal banking agencies and other organizations are working cooperatively to provide guidance (e.g., branch closures) and to determine the status of financial institutions located in Hurricane affected areas.
These web sites will be updated frequently as information is made available.
SSA Checks Arrive Early in Ike's Path:
Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida received their Social Security checks September 9th, rather than Wednesday, September 10th, the regularly scheduled payment day.

Branch Closures:
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency today issued a proclamation allowing national bank offices affected by Hurricane Ike to close at their discretion. Similar guidance has been issued or is expected from other federal and state banking authorities.

Bank Status:
The FDIC has created a web page so you can search for information about financial institutions and branches affected by the 2008 hurricanes. The FDIC will provide the best available consumer contact and branch information for all institutions headquartered in the affected area. This information will be updated as it becomes available to the FDIC and other state and federal regulators.
